Pele, the goddess of fire,  was the most beautiful in the land of Gods.  Even her brother-in-law fell in love with her. 
To keep the peace, her mother exiled Pele to earth, but her corned sister followed her, and there was a fire battle between the 2 goddesses. The explosions caused volcanoes to erupt in the button of the ocean and emerge as islands on top of the ocean. That is how Hawaiian islands were created, forged in fire.
